2013-14 Spartan men's head basketball coach

First-year head basketball coach

Brandon enters his first season as the Spartan men's head basketball coach. He takes over the program after spending the past three years coaching overseas in Qatar, Bahrain and Denmark. He previously was an assistant coach at North Dakota State College of Science, where the team earned a 54-13 record in two seasons, including an elite eight appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. He also coached at Western Texas College, where he helped to restart a program and helped guide the team to a 31-27 record over two seasons.

Second-year Volunteer Assistant Coach

Shawn, a Lac qui Parle native, followed in the footsteps of his three older brothers, all of whom played basketball for the M State Spartans, before continuing his education at St. Cloud State University. Shawn was an all-conference selection in high school and has continued his involvement in youth basketball as a coach at sports camps, for traveling teams and through the AAU basketball programs. He is employed as a home-based SQL server database administrator for Unisys Corp. in Eagan.

Jim "Sal" Salentine

Second-year Volunteer Assistant Coach

Jim is in his second year as a Spartan assistant coach after three years as assistant coach for the Fergus Falls High School varsity girl's basketball team, which won third place in the 2012 state tournament. In 2011, he was honored as the Section 8AAA Coach of the Year. Salentine is an Eden Prairie native and works remotely from his home in Fergus Falls as an information technology specialist for American Family Insurance of Madison, Wis. He's an active community volunteer for youth basketball, Young/Wyld Life and Hospice.
