Office of Multicultural Services (OMS)

The Office of Multicultural Services (OMS) is dedicated to working with student services and academic offices to meet the needs of underrepresented students which include low-income and academically under prepared, ELL, International students with its primary focus assisting students of color.

OMS strives to provide a strong, stable, and supportive learning environment for students. By enhancing the out-of-classroom experiences, OMS seeks to improve the opportunities for students to be fully engaged in the collegiate experience. OMS creates opportunities and partners with all other offices, organizations, and committees to aid all students in becoming more interculturally competent.

OMS Services

  • Assist students in the adjustment process and acclimation into college life.
  • Provide students with information about course selection and entrance into courses and programs.
  • Academically advise students to meet their transfer and graduation goals and monitor their academic progress.
  • Provide students with referrals to other support services such as financial aid, tutoring and counseling.
  • Provide students with career, transfer and continuing educational resources.
  • Design and implement cultural/diversity events on campus.
  • Recommend students for cultural scholarships.

C.A.C.T.U.S.
The Director of OMS serves as an advisor for C.A.C.T.U.S. (Cultural Activities Can Touch Us), a student organization that provides opportunities for which differences can be celebrated through various forms of expression - speakers, theatre, and cinema. Students plan and coordinate cultural and educational events such as Cultural Heritage Week.

Multicultural Student Scholarships
The M State - Fergus Falls campus offers scholarships for students of color. Students who wish to request a scholarship to attend the Fergus Falls campus may complete the form listed below.
