Staying on Track

As a college student, this may be your first opportunity to be accountable and responsible for something of major importance, which can be intimidating. You are responsible for your own education and for making sure that you meet the requirements to earn your diploma or degree. This page offers guidance for staying on track and preventing any surprises when it is time to graduate.

Frequently Monitor your Degree Audit Reporting System!

Your interactive Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) is a great tool to use when making sure that you are meeting degree requirements! It is the tool used by the registrar when evaluating your graduation application to ensure your degree requirements are complete.

Bring a copy of your DARS when you meet with your advisor.

Know your Advisor!

Your advisor is the person who can help you plan your academic success. You should meet with your advisor at least once a semester to plan for the next semester. Your advisor can help you:

  • Read your DARS
  • Apply for graduation
  • File an appeal
  • Decide on a course of action if you think you will be unsuccessful in a class

Talk to your faculty!

If you are struggling, make an appointment with your faculty. We can help you find a way to understand a concept or deal with a problem. We can't help you if we don't know you are struggling.

Ask questions!

Education is our business. If you need help understanding something, whether it is your DAR or course content, ask questions. We are here to help you.

Apply for graduation!

In order to have your degree conferred and posted to your transcript, you need to apply for graduation. The application for graduation alerts the registrar to confirm that you have completed degree requirements so that you can be awarded your degree.

If you don't apply for graduation, it delays your ability to take the NCLEX exam and your employment or continued education.
