The Fergus Area College Foundation was incorporated to provide a vehicle for citizen participation in the future of the Fergus Falls campus through charitable contributions and volunteer leadership. Foundation bylaws permit the establishment of scholarships, special purpose scholarships for students who excel in particular program areas and special purpose gifts for the general development and improvement of the college, the faculty, and the facilities.

In existence since 1966, the Foundation has assisted more than 2,200 students with scholarship funds. Funds from the Foundation have also provided support for special academic programs, faculty and staff development, assistance to students to participate in national conferences, cultural diversity programs, leadership development, and assistance to help buy equipment.

The Fergus Area College Foundation received gifts totaling $833,000 during the 2008 academic year from individuals, businesses, foundations and organizations. The Foundation's assets total more than $2.8 million.
