Campus Support

I am a campus student or live near a campus, what tutoring support can I receive?

M State offers professional and student tutoring on our campuses in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena. Check out the schedules that will be posted below for the upcoming semester.

Do you offer services in addition to tutoring?

Each of the campuses offers workshops that are free and open to all students. Workshops will include such topics as time management, study skills, financial planning and how to read your DARS (Individualized Degree Audit Report). Visit a campus Spartan Center to see what will be offered throughout the academic year.

Online Support

I am an eCampus student or am unable to make it to a campus Spartan Center. What tutoring support can I receive?

M State offers free online tutoring to all students taking at least 1 online course. Students taking only campus courses may request this service from an instructor or advisor. These free online tutoring services are available 24/7 through Smarthinking and Eduwizards. Subject areas that are supported include accounting, English, economics, biology, chemistry, math and physics. Bilingual math, finance and Spanish tutoring are offered only through Smarthinking.

Do you offer any other online resources?

Additionally, there are many sites that offer free resources on a collegiate level; a few we recommend are listed below:

EdReady helps learners test their college readiness, see study options, and gain a personalized study plan to fill in knowledge gaps. Current area of study is limited to math with English coming in 2015.

Google Translator offers free online language translation service instantly translating text and web pages.

Hippocampus offers free, core academic support delivering multimedia content with videos, animations, and simulations.

Khan Academy offers free resources, bite-sized videos, step-by-step problems with instant data in a variety of subjects including but not limited to math, science, physics, finance and humanities.

Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) offers over 200 free writing resources, literacy handouts, slide presentations and electronic feedback.

Be sure to also check out the resources offered through M State Libraries.
