At M State, you will get a broad background designed to prepare you for careers in the sales, marketing and management fields. The Business Management, Marketing and Sales AAS curriculum includes instruction in the areas of sales, marketing, research, communication, problem-solving and technology.
The AAS degree is 66 credits and offered on the Detroit Lakes and Moorhead campuses.

This certificate prepares students to enhance their selling, customer service and speaking skills. It also is designed to provide new sales professionals with the foundational skills for success. This certificate includes courses in public speaking, selling strategies and customer service.
This program prepares students to enter sales and marketing careers. Positions are available in marketing, merchandising, selling, retailing and service businesses. This major includes courses in computer technology, selling strategies, customer service, telemarketing, and retailing and marketing concepts.
The Business: Management, Marketing and Sales AAS major includes business and general education courses. This major is designed to provide students with the skills necessary for success in a variety of careers in the sales, marketing and management fields. Curriculum includes instruction in areas such as sales, marketing, research, customer service and small business planning. Emphasis is on developing skills in management decision-making, communication, problem-solving and technology.
M State's Business Management, Marketing and Sales program has articulation agreements with University of Minnesota Crookston and Minnesota State University Moorhead. Graduates from M State's Business Management, Marketing and Sales program can transfer seamlessly into University of Minnesota Crookston's bachelor degree programs in Business Management and MSUM's bachelor degree program in Project Management.
Articulation agreements ensure that students completing specified coursework or degree programs at M State will transfer into designated programs at partner universities/colleges per the terms of the agreement. This cooperative effort eliminates or minimizes the questions and confusion that sometimes accompany transfer and allows our students to be confident that their degree from M State will satisfy a substantive portion of the completion requirements for the bachelor's degree at the university/college they will be attending.
Where will your dream career take you?
That's the question more than 55 students had the chance to consider during the first Connect to Your Career event on M State's Moorhead campus in mid-September. The aviation-themed event was designed to help freshmen in the Business: Management, Marking & Sales and Business AS programs determine their dream career destinations.
Students "checked in" and received a "boarding pass" which included their itinerary and the assigned gate where they met other business students.
During one Connect to Your Career session, a panel of program alumni shared highlights of their careers and tips for success for these future business entrepreneurs. Panel members included Austin Roeder, an account executive at J&M Printing; Cody Nelson, assistant general manager of Boiler Room & Barbacoa; Kristen Rheault, a current M State student and intern at Forum Communications; and Chad Jacobsen, a digital media specialist at Forum Communications.
Cindy Boe, M State's director of career services, also outlined the opportunities and support services provided through the college's Career Center.
For their final activity of the day, students wrote their dream career destination on a sticky note and placed it on the "runway" created for this event - a visual reminder for students to stay on course to reach their goals.
The event, held Sept. 11, was created and sponsored by the Sales, Marketing and Management instructors on the Moorhead campus. Faculty members are Sherrie Holmquist, Lynn Kaiser, Marla Field, Shelley Lundborg and Michelle Ebsen.
