CDL Mobile Unit

The CDL mobile trailer is a 48' reefer trailer that has been retrofitted to house three (3) state of the art, full-motion, dynamic platform 3-axis truck driving simulators. Simulators can be used for truck driver training, refresher or remedial driver training or annual training.

CDL Class A

This course is for individuals interested in obtaining a commercial driver's license (CDL) Class A. The comprehensive program is designed to introduce the participant to the world of transportation, develop an understanding of the trucking industry, cover all aspects of operating a tractor-trailer via simulator scenarios along with supervised behind-the-wheel instruction, and learn employment skills related to jobs in the trucking industry. Individuals will be prepared to complete the written and road test exams, which will be part of the class and scheduled at the end of the course.

Training topics will include:

  • Pre-trip inspection procedures
  • Backing maneuvers: straight line backing, alley dock backing, offset backing (right and left side)
  • Double clutch (up and down shifting)
  • Cornering, highway driving, city driving, uphill and downhill procedures, and defensive driving
  • Trip planning/logging
  • FMCSA rules and regulations

Training will be progressive, with participants learning skills on simulators and then advancing to tractor-trailer maneuvers on the range. Classroom/lecture will be integrated throughout the class day.

Participants will adhere to general regulation requirements per §391, as well as all controlled substances and alcohol use and testing per Part 40 and §382. M State will have a drug/alcohol service provider to oversee the drug/alcohol testing pool and administer the testing, and have a Designated Employer Representative (DER) that will receive communication and test results from the drug/alcohol program service provider. M State has developed a drug/alcohol policy for individuals that participate in a CDL course.

Refresher/Remedial Driver Training

This course is designed for individuals who hold a current CDL and are looking to brush up on their driving skills, or have been away from the industry and want to refresh their driving skills.

This course is also beneficial for individuals who hold a current CDL and are considered to be at a higher risk for carrier insurance or have been involved in an accident/incident and are seeking retraining as part of the motor carrier's commitment to safety. Drivers go through a series of scenarios developed to enhance driver safety and awareness.

Annual Training

This course is designed for individuals who hold a current CDL and work for a motor carrier that is committed to safety. Drivers go through a series of scenarios developed to enhance driver safety and awareness. All training is designed to improve driver knowledge and skill.

More information to come regarding class length and cost. Because the training is mobile, we are able to schedule classes throughout the area.

M State will comply with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements for the CDL program.
