At M State, we're excited about First Year Experience. In fact, we recently won national recognition for development of the program.

The First Year Experience course is designed to help M State students create their own launching pad for success in college. Students learn to strengthen and develop critical and creative thinking skills associated with a college academic experience, adapt to a new environment and make valuable connections with faculty, staff and resource offices.

Course topics include an understanding of individual risks and barriers, multiculturalism, life and career planning and personal responsibility. This course is also designed to help students develop the basic skills necessary for academic success in college. Additional topics may include time management, study skills, note- and test-taking skills, motivation, and community and campus resources.
