ON THIS PAGE:Welcome to the Fergus Falls Campus! ![]() Welcome to the Fergus Falls Campus!Students come to the Fergus Falls campus for academics, but what makes the experience life-changing is the small college feel. Faculty know students by name, the campus features
rolling prairie, wetlands and woods, and all the classroom buildings are connected, which makes winters much easier to take. Students get to know each other through varsity
athletics (football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball and golf), intramural sports (soccer is the newest addition), theater productions, musical events, lectures, films
and clubs. Many of our students are commuters, but on-campus housing is available and encouraged and is another great way students form lifelong friendships with one
another.
![]() Culture and ArtMost people who visit the Fergus Falls campus are amazed by our extensive art collection which we display across the entire campus. We work to make it an everyday part of
the student experience because we value aesthetics and want to shape the cultural life of our community through the visual arts. Our music program is widely renowned for both vocal and instrumental excellence. We have a new chorale room and a new instrumental rehearsal room with computers and software for music composition. Among our instrument collection is a Steinway grand piano, housed in a climate controlled practice room. There are multiple opportunities across the year for students to perform in concerts, rehearsals and musical productions. In 2007, the painting and drawing room and the ceramics studio were redesigned. The visual arts are increasingly popular on this campus and the quality of student work is superior. Students produce an annual exhibit of their work in the Waage Gallery every spring, and every month during the school year regional artists show their work in the Charles Beck Gallery. CommunityA big small town, Fergus Falls has many of the same qualities of a city several times its size. It has golf courses, kayaking, bike paths, water sports-exercise clubs, coffee
houses, classic 19th century architecture, book stores, a dance studio, movie theaters, restaurants and a vibrant arts scene. Those interested in environmental issues will love
the Prairie Wetlands Resource Center, an environmental education center established by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Those into hunting and fishing will find premiere outlets
for both as well as sports clubs dedicated to preserving wildlife and habitat. Why would a student choose the Fergus Falls campus of Minnesota State Community and Technical College? First of all, the Fergus campus has a history and tradition of educating students who intend to continue their education at a four-year school. Every year for the last ten years, nearly 80% of our students have done just that. Many of them have gone on to other Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, and many others have chosen private and public institutions all around the country. Some students earn their two-year degree here and go directly into the workplace. Our nursing students are good examples of that career path. Still others decide to continue their education in a technical field. Transferring to another M State campus is easy, and that makes the offerings of the other three campuses highly accessible to our Fergus Falls students. ![]() AcademicsAnother compelling reason to start college at Fergus Falls is the high quality of our two year degree and certificate programs. The Fergus Falls campus of Minnesota State
Community and Technical College (M State) has been offering high quality academic programs in the liberal arts and health sciences for almost fifty years. Students can earn an
Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Fine Arts (A.F.A.) in Music and in Visual Arts, an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Biological Sciences and Medical Laboratory Technology, an
Associate Diploma in Nursing and a Certificate in Equine Science. This year, the Fergus Falls campus is introducing a one year diploma program in Equine Science. This program combines classroom work with courses held at the world-class Red Horse Ranch located eight miles from the campus. Students will learn how to care for horses, ride them, judge events and offer instruction in English and Western riding. Red Horse Ranch can stable student horses or provide them to students who do not own their own mounts. Our experienced faculty teach courses designed to equip our graduates with the intellectual skills they will need across their lifetimes. These skills are the keys to succeeding in our global economy. The Fergus Falls faculty, collectively, have been nurturing the academic careers of arts and science students for nearly half a century. Many of our graduates are now accomplished in their fields, and these fields are broad, from government, to health, education, law, politics, and business. Finally, learning to love learning and developing the skills and curiosity required to do that for decades is the foundation for a successful career, a satisfying life and a healthy connection to community. These abilities take time and nurturing to develop, and that happens best in a supportive academic community small enough to touch every student. Fergus Falls is just that sort of place.
