||The course is a survey course of management information systems. An information system is a set of interrelated components working together to collect, retrieve, process, store and disseminate information for purposes of facilitating, planning and decision making in business and other organizations. The student will gain invaluable knowledge as to how a business solves problems using an information system.
- Demonstrate the ability to envision, design, and evaluate computer-based solutions to the typical business problem.
- Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary and emerging hardware and software tools.
- Display critical thinking skills.
- Apply the concepts of information systems to be used in a career in MIS.
- Demonstrate knowledge of proper organization of data and information.
- Demonstrate knowledge of telecommunications, including but not limited to: LANs, WANs, intranets, and the internet.
- Demonstrate understanding of good electronic commerce practices.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Security, Privacy, and Ethical Issues in Information Systems and the Internet.
- Differentiate between transaction, decision support, management information, and expert systems.
