Description: This course is designed to introduce the Uniform Building Code to students in the construction field, where a basic knowledge of the code's requirements is needed. Emphasis will be placed on the development and proper use of the code.

  2. Examine administrative procedures.
  3. Identify occupancy group requirements.
  4. Examine types of construction.
  5. Analyze fire-resistive requirements.
  6. Assess exit requirements.
  7. Examine handicapped access for structures.
  8. Investigate sites, soils and foundations.
  9. Assess design requirements for concrete, masonry and steel.
  10. Examine structural wood panel/sawn lumber grade stamps.
  11. Explore conventional light frame construction details.
