CVRI1120 – Principles of Patient Care pdf

Description: This course introduces the cardiovascular technology student to basic patient care principles. Students will learn basic intracardiac catheterization care including patient assessment, interpretation of laboratory values and diagnostic tests.
Prerequisites: (None)
Corequisites: CVRI1100 AND CVRI1110
Competencies:
  1. Demonstrate assessment techniques.
  2. Interpret patient assessment data.
  3. Interpret laboratory data.
  4. Perform patient care procedures safely.
  5. Analyze electrocardiogram (EKG) data.
  6. Differentiate management of routine patients versus high risk patients.
  7. Identify measures to prevent sentinel events.
  8. Maintain patient safety in the simulation lab setting.
  9. Differentiate medical from surgical asepsis.
  10. Demonstrate medical asepsis as appropriate.
  11. Demonstrate surgical asepsis as appropriate.
  12. Demonstrate universal precautions and proper use of personal protective equipment.
