FYE1000 – Student Success Seminar pdf

Description: This course is designed as an introductory seminar in which students will have the opportunity to explore the overall building blocks for success in college and in life. This seminar seeks to promote understanding that the journey of college is a time of personal growth and change and begins with the identification and clarification of values and goals. This course is available to students in their first term.
Prerequisites: Instructor approval required.
Corequisites: (None)
Competencies:
  1. Demonstrate the process of self-direction through establishing goals and identifying the appropriate resources to succeed in reaching those goals.
  2. Explore and document the academic and personal skills necessary to succeed in college and as a self-directed learner.
  3. Demonstrate budgeting and scheduling priorities based upon values and goals.
  4. Articulate the connection between effective career/major exploration and the achievement of personal, professional and academic goals.
