GAS1005 – Gas Service Welding II pdf

Description: This course provides an opportunity for students to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding required for employment in this field. Students will understand how to position pipe welding utilizing gas metal arc welding and shielded metal arc welding processes, pipe fit up and pipe weld testing according to American Petroleum Institute (API) Standard 1104 code.

  2. Identify shield metal arc weld electrodes.
  3. Demonstrate shield metal arc welding techniques.
  4. Analyze the American Petroleum Institute (A.P.I.) 1104 Standards related to shield metal arc weld.
  5. Identify common welding defects and problems.
  6. Describe welder qualification requirements for shield metal arc weld.
  7. Demonstrate a 5G position-open single vee butt joint, schedule (SCH) 40 pipe 1/8 inch diameter E6010.
  8. Describe welder qualification requirements to shield metal arc weld.
  9. Identify joint designs and weld symbols.
  10. Describe the correct method of laying out and constructing a full-size tee.
