PE2211 – Water Safety Instructor pdf

Description: This course prepares students to become water safety instructors and to teach Red Cross swimming lessons to all levels and ages. Students will be introduced to all swimming strokes. Physical conditioning is stressed. Students who complete this course will be eligible to take the Red Cross water safety Instructor exam.
Prerequisites: Students must be at least 16 years old by the last day of the course.
Corequisites: (None)
Competencies:
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of water safety classroom management for multiple levels of initial competency.
  2. Demonstrate the front crawl at a Red Cross Level 6.
  3. Demonstrate the elementary back stroke at a Red Cross Level 6.
  4. Demonstrate the side stroke at a Red Cross Level 6.
  5. Demonstrate the butterfly stroke at a Red Cross Level 6.
  6. Demonstrate the breast stroke at a Red Cross Level 6.
  7. Demonstrate appropriate water safety pedagogy.
  8. Demonstrate the back crawl at a Red Cross Level 6.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge of water safety classroom management for multiple age levels.
