Description: Meets MnTC Goal Area 6. This course is intended to introduce students to basic acting skills and techniques through the use of games, exercises and improvisations, and in-class performances.

  1. Engage in the artistic process of preparation for performance through breathing, centering, and focusing.
  2. Articulate an informed personal reaction to theatrical performances.
  3. Understand the process of developing and analyzing a character.
  4. Sustain focus and commitment to working effectively with others in preparation and performance in group activities.
  5. Engage effectively in individual and ensemble improvisation.
  6. Apply techniques for clear, articulate, and expressive speech with proper breath support.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to use the body and voice on stage as an instrument for creating believable characters.
  8. Apply vocabulary, basic acting techniques and blocking through exercises, monologues, and scene-work.
