Description: This course introduces server-side development with PHP and relational database concepts with MySQL. Students will learn how these technologies work together to develop dynamic, database-driven websites. Basic PHP syntax and usage, SQL queries, database connections and server-side security issues will be examined.
Prerequisites: WEBD1040
Corequisites: None
  1. Set up a local development environment for PHP and MySQL.
  2. Identify PHP constructs including strings, variables, arrays and objects.
  3. Create PHP functions using conditional statements and loops.
  4. Create PHP scripts to validate forms.
  5. Manage cookies and sessions with PHP.
  6. Manage database connections using PHP.
  7. Create and manipulate a database using MySQL.
  8. Create simple database queries.
  9. Create interactive websites using PHP and MySQL.
