Sheri Johnson is an instructor of both theatre and communication at Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Before coming to the college in 2010, she was a marketing manager at a children's publishing company in Minneapolis where she managed the classroom division, wrote several nonfiction children's books, and provided voiceover narration for product and marketing material.
Attending South Dakota State University, Sheri earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communication Studies & Theatre and in English. She also earned her Master of Science in Communication (thesis examining Shakespearean films) and Master of Arts in English (thesis exploring Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel: Maus). She also holds a MN 7-12 high school teaching license. She is a member of several communication and theatre associations and serves as a regional one-act play judge.
Sheri has been involved in more than 75 productions in various capacities at South Dakota State University and Prairie Repertory Theatre (Brookings, SD), Bloomington Civic Theatre (Bloomington, MN), Lincoln High School (Sioux Falls, SD), Straw Hat Players (Moorhead, MN), and here at M State!
Sheri currently teaches several communication and theatre courses, including: interpersonal communication, public speaking, intro to theatre, acting, stage make-up, and musical theatre. She also directs play productions and enjoys traveling with students on M State fine arts trips.
