Description
Students will continue to build on the ultrasound scanning skills learned in ECHO1105 and ECHO1115. Content includes continued skill enhancement of a full adult transthoracic echocardiography scanning protocol. In addition, students will continue to master the content of the required measurements to determine the severity of cardiovascular disease.

- Evaluate patient information that is obtained prior to performing an echocardiogram.
- Perform proper body mechanics and ergonomics during an ultrasound exam.
- Practice the two-dimensional (2D) views required for a complete echocardiogram.
- Interpret measurements of heart size and function using 2D imaging.
- Produce the echocardiographic views required to assess ischemic disease.
- Interpret Doppler waveforms for an assessment of diastolic function.
- Understand and show the echocardiographic views required for pericardial disease assessment.
- Apply Doppler principles to ultrasound images.
- Interpret Color Doppler for the assessment of valvular disease.
- Assess Doppler waveforms in valvular stenosis.
- Demonstrate the use of M-mode for an assessment of heart structure.
- Demonstrate a systematic approach to a 2D and Doppler exam.
- Acquire the imaging protocol for a complete echocardiographic examination.
