Overview

Program Overview

Relevant coursework coupled with hands-on lab practice at our on-site Transportation Center will train you in the diagnosis, repair and preventative maintenance of cars and light trucks. Program instructors are highly skilled, with years of experience in the private industry, and Automotive Service Technology graduates are routinely recruited by businesses throughout the region – some are hired into the field while still in school, and can apply what they’re learning in class to their daily duties on the job.

This course focuses on the varied suspension systems currently in use, including McPherson strut, leaf spring, coil spring and torsion bar. Also covered will be caster, camber and toe, and other alignment angles; wheel balance using the latest road force technology; and operation, diagnosis and repair of manual and power steering systems.

AMST2214 - Electronic Powertrain Control I

This course is an introduction to vehicle computer systems and related components that assist in the management of engine fuel, ignition and emission systems. Sensor inputs, management operation and operational commands are addressed.
