Psychology Transfer Pathway

Associate of Arts (AA) - 60 credits

About this program

The Psychology Transfer Pathway AA offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Arts degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated psychology bachelor's degree programs at Minnesota State universities. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor's degree programs in a related field.

Program outcomes

  1. Students will demonstrate familiarity with the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings and historical trends in psychology.
  2. Students will demonstrate ethical and social responsibility by recognizing and understanding the complexity of sociocultural and international diversity.
  3. Students will be able to communicate effectively in a variety of formats (e.g., writing skills, oral communication skills, listening skills, reading skills, computer literacy and information literacy).
  4. Students will understand and apply basic research methods in psychology including research design, data analysis and interpretation.
  5. Students will use critical thinking, skeptical inquiry and, when possible, the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavior and mental processes.
  6. Students will understand and apply psychological principles to real-world issues.
