Purpose

To maintain the academic integrity of the College’s curricula.

Policy

In certain circumstances, flexibility in meeting program requirements is needed. Programs are developed by faculty and advisory committees with experience in that particular field. Each course chosen as a requirement has been carefully selected as part of the program of study to contribute to the program outcomes, as well as the student’s success in his/her chosen field. Making substitutions/exceptions to these requirements may compromise the integrity of the curriculum; therefore, exceptions shall be made only when the substituted course meets the same program and course outcomes as the course which it is replacing. A minimum of 75 percent of the course goals/outcomes must be shared between the substituted course and the required course.
