Autumn Spaeth
"In my first year of college, I attended a big university, but I did not enjoy it. I had a lot of free time, so I started to teach myself to code since that was something that had always interested me. I spent much time in the library using online resources and started to build some simple projects.
I’d taken PSEO classes in high school through M State, and I’d also heard lots of good comments about the college itself. I couldn’t imagine myself being at the university for four whole years, so I decided to transfer to M State.
I liked that I was able to start coding right away, and there were few lectures to sit through – more hands-on learning rather than quizzes and lectures. There were smaller class sizes, and the instructors were very knowledgeable and helpful.
I certainly feel M State did a good job preparing me for a career in programming. I’ve learned lots of skills that I know will be valuable in a workplace environment. Maybe in the future I will decide to get my bachelor’s degree, but for now I would prefer to start working."
Autumn graduated in May 2021 with an AAS degree in Computer Programming.
