Description
Meets MnTC Goal Areas 6 and 10. In this hands-on course, students will learn how to safely use materials, tools and theatrical equipment to complete a variety of projects and will be required to complete lab hours working with the tools and techniques learned in class. Students do not need prior experience, but skills with tools or an interest in building would be beneficial. Students will also explore traditional theatre production practices and more environmentally sustainable practices, including benefits and challenges.

- Communicate and collaborate effectively in a theatrical production.
- Develop a basic knowledge of terminology and concepts of stagecraft.

- Develop appreciation for the technical theatre process by contributing to the overall outcome of a theatrical production.
- Analyze environmentally non-sustainable theatre practices and their potential environmental impacts in theatre production.
- Explore and defend environmentally sustainable theatre stagecraft practices as an alternative to traditional theatre stagecraft practices, including obstacles and incentives for implementation.
- Discuss the relationship between theatre, finances, and environmental concerns through exploration of Green Theatre and Sustainable Theatre practices.
