Online Tutoring Support

We know your life isn't 9-5. Your tutoring doesn't have to be either. M State has partnered with Tutor.com to provide our online students FREE online tutoring to support your academic success. Tutors are available 24/7, so you can study on your own schedule.

Subject areas supported include accounting, English, economics, computer science, healthcare, math, writing and more!

To access Tutor.com, log in to your D2L account. The link to Tutor.com is the "Tutoring" button on the left side of the course homepage. For more information, check out these resources:

Tutor.com offers 24/7 service. Immediate access to tutors in your chosen area may not be available. Make sure to plan ahead.

  • You have 15 hours of free access per year.
  • Tutoring is not available for every course. If you need help in a course, let us or your instructor know.
  • While we understand online tutoring might not be for everyone, we encourage you to give it a try. If you live near an M State campus, you are also welcome to use the tutoring services available in the Spartan Centers.

Access: Log in to your D2L Brightspace account, click on the drop-down menu labeled "Academic Resources" and click "Tutor.com."

Log-in: Tutor.com is linked to your D2L Brightspace account. There is no additional login after you have accessed through D2L.

Campus Tutoring Support

M State offers professional and student tutoring online via our eTutoring platform as well as face-to-face support in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena.

We encourage you to stop by your campus Spartan Center. Whether you need a place to study, a bit of support on a homework assignment or the opportunity to use a white board, this is the place for you. Our professional tutors, faculty and student mentors are eager to work with you and help you achieve academic success at M State!

Each of the campuses offers free workshops that are open to all students on topics such as time management, study skills, financial planning and how to read your DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) audit. Visit a campus Spartan Center to see what will be offered throughout the academic year. If you have suggestions for topics, we encourage you to share them with us.

As the schedules for tutors are established, updated hours will be provided.

eTutoring for Writing

M State is currently offering a pilot online writing tutor service, eTutoring. Every M State student has access to eTutoring.

How will students access eTutoring? eTutoring is available online within D2L Brightspace under "My Courses" and also under the "Academic Resources" menu on the navigation bar. eTutoring can be accessed:

  • 1:1 eTutor appointments for approximately 30 minutes via calendly.com/etutoring. (available times 8-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-5:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday)
  • Email submission is available 24/7 and responded to within 24 hours Sunday through Thursday. Submissions to etutoring@minnesota.edu.

The eTutoring Program is an online resource for writing support funded through a Title III federal grant and part of the component three structure: Student Support and Success. As the number of online learners continues to grow, M State recognizes the need for student and academic services to address their specific needs. While we understand online tutoring might not be for everyone, we encourage you to give it a try. If you live near an M State campus, you are also welcome to use the tutoring services available in the Spartan Centers.

D2L Brightspace Support

If you need assistance learning to navigate an online course, log in to your D2L site, look at the top left drop-down menu for "Academic Resources," click on that drop-down arrow and locate "How to Use D2L Brightspace." This overview will guide you and provide tutorials to get you comfortable with navigating your online course. If you're in need of additional assistance, we recommend you stop by your campus Spartan Center or speak with your instructor.

Career Services Support

Transfer

M State is committed to providing support and resources to all students wishing to transfer to or from our college. Our staff will work with students who have previously attended another college or university who want to transfer credits in to M State as well as students who plan to transfer to another college or university after attending M State.

Whether you intend to transfer into or out of M State, advanced planning is encouraged to ensure a smooth transfer experience.
