Cost

M State establishes a due date each semester for final payment of tuition and fees. Students who have not paid in full, do not have a financial aid deferment, or have not established a payment plan risk the possibility of having their registration canceled. The college may grant an extension of the payment due date for students who have filed and are awaiting properly approved financial aid from federal, state or other third-party sources.

Tuition for all M State students is set annually by the Minnesota State system Board of Trustees and charged on a per-credit basis. Fees are assessed to students depending on their enrollment status, courses attempted and services offered by the campus attended. Fees unique to a program or class are detailed in the course requirement list.

Billing

Students are responsible for managing their account balance online.

  • Billing statements are not mailed.
  • View your account by logging into SpartanNet and clicking the E-Services link.

Registration cancellation for non-payment policy

All Minnesota State colleges and universities are required by policy to cancel all registered courses for students who have not met the payment requirements by the tuition and fee due date. Please read the Registration Cancellation for Non-Payment Policy for payment definitions.

Non-attendance does not terminate your registration records or excuse payment obligations. Please ensure registration records accurately reflect your attendance plans. If you are not planning on remaining enrolled in courses you have registered for, it is your responsibility to drop those courses.

Direct deposit

M State offers students the option of direct deposit for financial aid (loans, grants, scholarships, overage disbursement and other student refunds).

1098-T student tax form

Students enroll through their E-Services account under Bills and Payments > 1098T Tax Form to receive their statement electronically. If students choose not to enroll for the electronic version, a paper document will be mailed to the permanent address on file. Students who have consented to receive their 1098-T tuition statements electronically will see a notification message in the Action Item area on their Student E-Services dashboard that states "IMPORTANT TAX RETURN DOCUMENT AVAILABLE: 1098-T TUITION STATEMENT." Students who did not consent to receive their tax form electronically before year-end may still request electronic delivery at any time.
