Project Purpose

Project Purpose

This project aims to increase matriculation of K12 students by providing an array of experiences connected to M State career pathways and targeted to historically underserved populations. Historically, K12 concurrent programming has served students who are not likely to attend M State. The purpose of this project is to:

  • Design systems to connect K12 students to M State career pathways before they graduate, with an emphasis on students underrepresented in current K12 programming.
  • Expand opportunities for underrepresented students (who may not be eligible for credit-based K12 programming) to explore careers by offering experiences aligned with pathways.
Deliverables

Deliverables

Outcomes:

  • Increase diversity in students served through K12 programming.
  • Increased matriculation of students from K12 programming to M State programs, disaggregated by demographic data.

Deliverables:

  • Outline expectations for school districts to participate in a pilot group.
  • Recommend a target number of school districts to participate.
  • Development of data reports shared with target districts based on public SLEDS data, M State data, and national data.
  • Data collection plan to gather student demographic data including race/ethnicity, low-income, first generation, English-learners, and disability status.
  • Plan for intentional and ongoing connections for dual credit students to develop an academic plan to reach career goals.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for M State employees in those intentional and ongoing connections.
  • Development and expansion of CTE pathways for students historically underserved by dual credit programming.
