Definitions

Athletics

Any competitive activity between varying campuses within the MCAC conference (NJCAA Division III, region 13).

Conference

M State is a member of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC), whose mission advances intercollegiate athletics by providing an engaging and supportive environment for success of our student athletes and competition among member institutions.

Policy

The College may add or remove sports after a review of the impact on students, finances, the institution’s facilities master plan, Title IX compliance and completion of the student and college consultation process. The college shall operate according to the rules and standards of the conference as long as such rules are not in conflict with federal or state law, board policies, or system procedure.

The College is committed to providing equal opportunity in athletics for students of all gender identities and gender expressions. M State will provide athletic opportunities for students in accordance with federal and state requirements.

The College requires students participating in intercollegiate athletics to maintain health insurance through a plan or rider that includes coverage for participation in intercollegiate athletics. Prior to student participation in intercollegiate athletics, M State will provide notice to students of the requirement for health insurance.
