Description

Meets MnTC Goal Area 6F. Group piano lessons are designed for students with no piano experience. The course includes an emphasis on solo and ensemble playing as well as improvisation, technique and theory.

Competencies

  1. Students will progress in the skills of reading and realizing piano scores by studying a variety of music styles and piano techniques.
  2. Students will express their own musical ideas within the framework of the printed score.
  3. Students will articulate their own observations and ideas about music using appropriate musical language.
  4. Students will demonstrate and understanding of major and minor scales progressions.
  5. Students will demonstrate the ability to accompany folk tunes.
  6. Students will demonstrate the ability to play a melody with musical phrasing.
