Description

Meets MnTC Goal Area 6F. Individual woodwind, brass, percussion, string and guitar lessons are offered, subject to instructor availability. Students should contact the music department to arrange instruction. There is an additional fee. May be repeated for credit.

Competencies

  1. Students will progress in the skills of realizing instrumental scores by studying a variety of music styles and instrumental techniques.
  2. Students will understand instrumental music as expressions of composers created in different musical styles for particular instrumentalists as well as for particular audiences.
  3. Students will interpret music using stylistic conventions and techniques of the period in melody structure.
  4. Students will express their own musical ideas within the framework of the printed score.
  5. Students will articulate their observations and ideas about the music studied using appropriate musical language.
