M State, VCSU partner on new transfer pathway for Tech Ed students

Body

M State and Valley City State University (VCSU) are working together to provide a new seamless transfer opportunity for students pursuing a career in Technology Education.

An articulation agreement between the two schools, effective August 1, makes it possible for students who earn an M State Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences to transfer to VCSU to earn their Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Technology Education, without losing time or credits.

“This partnership between M State and VCSU offers students a convenient, timely, flexible and cost-effective way to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Technology Education,” says Matthew Borcherding, M State Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs. “We’re offering a high-quality, accredited program that benefits educational needs by providing high-quality teacher education graduates.”

“We are excited to work with M State to offer streamlined pathways for individuals to pursue careers in Technology Education,” says VCSU Vice President for Academic Affairs Larry Brooks. “There is a critical need for technology educators across North Dakota and Minnesota. Partnerships like this help open more doors for students interested in becoming educators.”

The Technology Education program prepares future K-12 educators with the skills and knowledge needed to teach in the fields of Construction Management, Manufacturing, Automotive Service Technology, Diesel Equipment Technology and PowerSports Technology. The new block transfer agreement allows VCSU Technology Education students to satisfy the general education requirements of their four-year degree at a two-year school, M State.

The articulation agreement will remain in effect for at least five academic years.
