Practical Nursing Application Assessment Points Calculator

Applicants to the M State Practical Nursing program are assigned points for the criteria below. The 45 applicants who score the highest points will be selected for admission to the program. Use this form to calculate your points.

  • All documents and courses must be completed by the application deadline.
  • Applicants who are in the process of completing a college required course will not receive points for those courses.
  • In the case of a tie, the HSRT-AD overall score will be used to determine acceptance into the program.

Required Admission Criteria

These must be completed for consideration.

Math and English requirement

Math

Eligible to take MATH 1020 or have Accuplacer, ACT scores, or a waiver on file

English

Eligible to take ENGL 1101 or have Accuplacer, ACT scores, or a waiver on file

Health Sciences Reasoning Test (HSRT) score

90-100 = 4 points

80-89 = 3 points

70-79 = 2 points

60-69 = 1 point

59 or below = Not eligible (enter 0)


Beneficial Admission Criteria

  • PSYC 2222 Lifespan Development

Science courses must have been completed within the last five years to be eligible for points. 

Healthcare work experience

CNA, CMA, MA, PCT, TMA

1 point

CNA certification or completion of a nursing assistant course within the past 5 years

1 point. Certification must be current.

CPR certificate

1 point. American Heart Association certification ONLY. Certification must be current.
