Description
In this course, students will gain an understanding of the foundational theory of the printing process and be introduced to printing terminology.
Competencies
- Define offset, screen print and digital printing processes.
- Describe cyan, magenta, yellow and black process printing, spot color and tints.
- Describe print separations, registration, dot gain and trapping.
- Define lines per inch, dots per inch and pixels per inch.
- Describe various printing substrates and production specifications.
- Identify possible workflow efficiencies and demonstrate results using modern production practices.
- Describe print manufacturing stages, output devices and bindery methods.
- Identify different file formats and their appropriateness for various applications.
- Produce a variety of finished goods utilizing industry-level standards, equipment and production methods.
