This course introduces students to coding and classification systems used in the delivery of healthcare, along with the basic rules and regulations of coding.
Competencies
- Identify the content of a health record and documentation for various types and sizes of health organizations, including virtual environments.
- Differentiate the scope of health professionals and healthcare services in various settings.
- Understand which classification system is utilized for various healthcare settings.
- Identify and describe the differences between the various classification systems utilized for diagnosis and procedure coding.
- Recognize the function of the Standard Nomenclature of Medicine-Clinical Terminology (SNOMED CT).
