1. Apply for your FSA (Federal Student Aid) ID and password.

2. Complete the FAFSA.

3. Respond to all requests for information from the college at SpartanNet>E-Services>Financial Aid>Aid Application Status. Forms can be found at Forms.

4. Review your award letter in your E-Services account: SpartanNet>E-Services>Financial Aid>Award Letter. You will receive an email when your award letter is ready. Additional steps are necessary to receive a student loan.

5. Apply for Federal Direct Student Loans at SpartanNet>E-Services>Financial Aid>Loans.

6. Complete loan entrance counseling at studentaid.gov.

7. Complete and sign the electronic Direct Loan Master Promissory Note at studentaid.gov. When prompted, select the name Minnesota State Comm and Tech from the drop-down menu; a Fergus Falls address will be displayed.
