M State Spartans Men’s Basketball takes 4th place at national tournament

Fergus Falls, Minn. – The M State Spartans Men’s Basketball team has ended its record-setting season as fourth-place finishers at the NJCAA Division III National Tournament.
The team, strong in both defense and scoring, won more games this season than any other Men’s Basketball team in M State Spartans history, with a 30-4 record. The team’s season came to a close on March 15 in Herkimer, New York, with an 86-69 loss to Dallas College-Richland in the third-place game of the national tournament.
Spartans Foday Sheriff, Mason Muir and Yonis Mohamud all scored double figures for M State in the final game; Sheriff and Muir were both named to the All-Tournament team.
“They’re a tremendous group of young men,” Head Coach David Cresap says of the team. “I set high expectations for them at the beginning of the season, and they bought in and brought themselves to a higher level. I’m so proud of this group.”
The M State college community cheered on the team with a public send-off celebration before the national tournament as well as pictures, videos and other posts on social media throughout the tournament.
