"I had previously gone to North Dakota State University but was looking for a change in degrees. I had worked a couple of summers as a laborer, and the trades jumped out at me. My grandpa was a lineman electrician, so that was the first thing I thought of.
A cousin recommended this program at M State, so I gave it a shot. It’s awesome; I love it. I like that it’s not just hands-on work and it’s not just mental work – it’s a combination of both.
After I’m done, I’m hoping to continue my apprenticeship with Sun Electric and then, after I get enough hours, become a journeyman. To be a journeyman, you have to get a certain number of hours in, and going to school cuts down the number of hours you have to take. It also makes the exams easier. I’m enjoying my apprenticeship; I found it after multiple contractors came and talked to us here at the school. I’ll basically have two full years of work experience already done when I graduate."
