Class A CDL training

M State’s Class A CDL program prepares you for driving large combination vehicles, including trucks and trailers.

  • Duration: Short course with 20-30 hours of self-paced online theory, plus 20 hours of behind-the-wheel range and road training.
  • Training Locations: Available at the Detroit Lakes, Moorhead, and Wadena campuses.
  • Certification: Full Class A CDL with no restrictions upon completion.
  • Prerequisites: Must submit a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) and DOT Medical Card
  • Requirements during Training: Pass DOT Drug Test and Register in Federal Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse

Class B CDL training

If you want to drive smaller commercial vehicles such as buses or delivery trucks, our Class B CDL program is for you.

  • Duration: Short course with 20-30 hours of self-paced online theory, plus 15 hours of behind-the-wheel range and road training.
  • Training Locations: Available at the Detroit Lakes, Moorhead, and Wadena campuses.
  • Certification: Class B with air brakes - automatic restriction on license.
  • Prerequisites: Must submit a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) and DOT Medical Card
  • Requirements during Training: Pass DOT Drug Test and Register in Federal Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse

Endorsement training
