Description
This course covers the objectives of the Minnesota Fire Service Certification Board for certification as a Firefighter I. The MFSCB objectives are based on National Fire Protection Association 1001 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications. This will prepare the student to function at the minimum level of training for entry into a fire protection career field.
Competencies
  1. Demonstrate basic search and rescue techniques.
  2. Demonstrate safe operation of a self-contained breathing apparatus.
  3. Demonstrate proper handling of hose lines during fire stream operation.
  4. Operate fire extinguishers safely.
  5. Identify proper use of ventilation techniques during fire operations.
  6. Demonstrate safe operation of a fire hydrant.
  7. Safely operate and maintain ventilation tools, forcible entry tools and nozzles.
