Elementary Education Transfer Pathway

About this program
The Elementary Education Foundations Transfer Pathway Associate of Science degree offers students interested in teaching kindergarten through 6th grade a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an AS degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Elementary Education bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree program.
Program outcomes
  1. Develop proficiency in academic content areas reflective of elementary classroom standards.
  2. Explain the historical and philosophical foundations of schools in America.
  3. Identify characteristics and developmental stages of early and middle childhood within social, cognitive, physical and emotional domains.
  4. Explain factors that influence learning.
  5. Analyze culturally responsive curriculum in field experiences.
  6. Demonstrate student-centered learning using technology and research-based practices.
  7. Create professional electronic portfolios displaying achievement in the field of education.
  8. Demonstrate the process of reflective practioner.
